It is best to contact a lactation consultant during pregnancy. A consultation before birth helps to prepare for breastfeeding and minimize possible complications. If problems arise after birth, I recommend seeking help as soon as possible. Whether it is pain during breastfeeding, problems with sucking, slow weight gain, dissatisfaction or any other insecurities.
You can contact me at any age of your child. I will be happy to help you not only with specific difficulties, but also if you just need reassurance or to talk about breastfeeding. Advice on breastfeeding may vary from source to source, so I will help you navigate based on verified evidence-based information.
As a lactation consultant, I work primarily in Prague and the surrounding area. I live in Prague-East. I have no problem getting anywhere within about an hour of my residence. For women from other cities, I offer online consultations. These are especially suitable for preparing for breastfeeding or solving basic questions about breastfeeding. If you prefer a personal meeting outside your home, we can also arrange a consultation at my home.
In addition to support in any area related to breastfeeding - for example, finding the right position and latching on, pain during breastfeeding, slower weight gain, the need to increase milk production and intake, and many other situations, I can also offer help in broader child care:
with carrying the baby in a sling and carrier, including correct ergonomic attachment and breastfeeding in a sling/carrier,
with safe handling of the baby to support its psychomotor development, handling
with solutions to problems such as colic,
with the correct procedure for introducing solid foods.
with questions about baby sleep,
with the use of cloth diapers,
My goal is to offer you professional and empathetic support that respects you and your baby.
I always try to find the closest available appointment. Sometimes it is possible to make an appointment within 1-2 days, other times the capacity is full and the free appointment is available in a week. Anyway, if you already know that you will need a consultation on a specific date, you can book it in advance.
You don't need to do anything special to prepare for my visit. Before my visit, breastfeed your baby as needed. If your baby wants to breastfeed just before the visit, ideally not completely full, so that they are interested in breastfeeding during the visit.
The visit will be based on the baby's needs - we can talk first and then proceed to breastfeeding or vice versa. We will adapt everything to the situation, depending on how much your baby needs your care.
Please don't worry about cleaning - I'm not a housekeeper, but a breastfeeding support. ☺️You also don't have to worry about refreshments, I come to you at work. So please don't prepare or shop for anything.
If you have specific questions about breastfeeding and your baby, feel free to prepare them in advance.
I approach each woman individually, with maximum respect and empathy. I try to connect with what you really need and present several options and factors that can help your situation. It is entirely up to you what you actually decide to do. I will be happy to guide you through things within the boundaries that you choose and at the pace that is best for you. I will be happy if we constantly communicate your expectations so that I always hit on what you need. Don't be afraid to say exactly what you need.
The first meeting usually lasts about 1.5 hours. In my experience, this is the optimal time for absorbing information without overwhelming the woman and baby. But I certainly have no problem staying longer if your situation requires it.
Based on experience, follow-up meetings usually last up to 1 hour.
Sure. Anyone you want to have there. Your partner, mom, friend, or non-biting pets are definitely welcome ☺️. The presence of older children is certainly not a problem either. It doesn't matter at all if you need to take care of them during the meeting and interrupt the meeting. I'm used to older children bringing me toys to show me and I'm happy to get involved like that ☺️
This is very individual. For most situations, it is advisable to have several meetings. It all depends on your needs. In subsequent consultations, the recommended steps can be adjusted according to the development of the situation and the expected goal can be approached even better. Subsequent consultations are at a lower price than the first meeting.
